Karkala: An illegal forest hunting killed a person at Ajekaru Kadthala reserve forest in Karkala on Wednesday night.

The accused, Sundara Naik and Jeethu reportedly fired in the dark after hearing a sound and it resulted in the death of Ravi, a local.

Ravi was also reportedly illegally chopping off a tree in the reserved forest and tried to escape mistaking the duo for forest officials.

Ravi died on the spot and his body was shifted to Manipal hospital. The accused have been taken into custody by the police for questioning.

A case has been registered at Ajekaru station.
