Moodabidiri: As an attempt to escape from the police cattle traffickers allegedly tried to kill police while transporting cattle illegally, at Padukonaje on Thursday early morning.

Upon receiving an accurate tip off regarding the illegal cattle trafficking, Moodabidiri Inspector Ramachandra Nayak along with three police personnel was checking all the vehicles passing through Padukonaje cross.

Cattle traffickers saw the police and tried to fly away from the spot, but the police chased them in the jeep. When police tried to stop them by keeping the police jeep against to the qualis car, cattle trafficker tried to knock down the police personnel.

But the police staff managed to escape from the spot by jumping aside of the road. Then Inspector Ramachandra fired one round bullet in the air and accused fled from the spot after stopping the car in the middle of the road.

It is reported that the accused were vanished in the paddy fields beside the road.

Police have seized the car along with 7 cattle, hand gloves and two mobile phones from the car.
