Moodbidri : Ghanashyam alias Santosh Das, the prime accused in the case of the burglary of antique idol worth several crores of rupees from the Siddantha Mandir Basadi at Moodbidri, has been arrested at Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh.
He was nabbed with the help of Andhra Pradesh police while he was on way to Bangalore from Cuttack. The police have already arrested his wife and father-in-law after seizing several antique idols and also one kg gold from his bank locker. Both of them are in judicial custody till July 30.
Golden idols of Chandranatha, Pancha Parameshti, Parshwanatha crystal idol of Arhanatha Swamy, sapphire idol of Mallinatha Swami, Crystal idol of Manusuvaratha Swami and diamond studded Chandraprabha idols were among the idols stolen from the Basadi.
The lone thief who had entered the Basadi had also broken the CCTV camera.
