Mangalore : B Janardhan Poojary, Former Union Minister said that whole nation has grieved for the death of the Delhi gang rape victim and we must salute the girl’s courage who struggled for 13 days in hospital.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Dec 29, Saturday, he said that the struggle by the victim must remain permanently in the minds of people of the country, hence the central government must establish a memorial of her and must observe this day so that each people will be aware of the incident and recall it once in a year.
He said that after seeing the incident, the heart of Indian’s have started to bleed, further police and judicial system and mind of people must be changed. If every man looks at a girl as his mother then, this kind of incident will never occur, he said.
He urged Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit to protest against the incident and set up her memorial in Delhi.
On January 1, 2013, Sri Gokarnatheshwara Temple will distribute 5 kgs rice to 5,000 women’s in the name of rape victim, he said.
The amount of Rs one lakh was given the Belthangady rape victim Sowjanya’s family, he said.
Congress leaders Vijay Kumar Shetty, Kallige Tharnath Shetty, Suresh Ballal and Mohammed Baddruddin were present at the press meet.
