Bengaluru: BJP leader K S Eshwarappa said on Tuesday that differences of opinion among family members were common and BJP, which is also a family, is no exception. The Congress could never use the BJP’s for political gains under any circumstance, he said.
Speaking to mediapersons in Shivamogga, he said in every family, there will be small quarrels, but they will not harm relations. Problems erupt between husband and wife in each family. Similarly, BJP is like a family and all differences would be resolved soon. The BJP core committee meeting will be held in Bengaluru on August 16 and all issues would be thrashed out, Eshwarappa said.
He admitted that there was a rift between him and state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa. It should be treated as a family issue and the Congress can never gain from it, he said.
Eshwarappa, who has been sidelined by state party president B S Yeddyurappa, is making “desperate” attempts to establish his standing, said KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Speaking to reporters after participating in the Quit India Movement anniversary programme at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office in Bengaluru, Rao took a dig at Eshwarappa’s call to revive the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade. “Eshwarappa is trying to emerge as a dalit leader and establish his standing. But his call to revive the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade is a mere gimmick. He is doing this because he has been completely sidelined by Yeddyurappa,” he added.
