Mangalore : It’s official former bureaucrat JR Lobo who joined Congress last year, is the party’s candidate from the prestigious Mangalore South constituency. He will now face four time MLA Yogish Bhat of the BJP and a keen contest is on cards.
JR Lobo who spoke to reporters soon after his ticket was confirmed assured to work towards promoting communal harmony in the district and help Mangalor regain past glory. He also assured to solve all problems facing the city.
Hailing from Kowdur, the present Gurupur Kaikamba, Lobo is an alumnus of late St Joseph’s PU College, Bajpe and St Philomena College, Puttur and Government College of Education, Mangalore.
After passing out KAS exams, he became tahsildar of Madikeri and later on served as Tahsildar of Koppa, Somwarapete and Puttur and as Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies, Dakshina Kannada.
He has even served as Additional District Magistrate and Headquarters assistant to the then DC Bharatlal Meena from 1993 to 1997. Lobo has also served as Founder Executive Director of Pilikula, a post he held last before opting for voluntary retirement.
To him is the credit of successful implementation of the ambitious KUDCEMP project initiated in 2003, first as Deputy Project Director and later as Joint Project Director.
Lobo has served as a member of the Regional Task Force for the Development of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi and as the Panel Member of the Administrative Training Institute Mysore. He has also been the Member of Minority Development Cell, Mangalore University.
