Haveri : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah opined that there is no such thing as past birth or rebirth. What matters is the work we do in this life. Basavadi Sharanas and Kanakadasa completely rejected the theory of karma and myths on birth.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 536th Sri Kanaka Jayantyotsava and Bhavaikya Sammelana organized by Srikaginele Mahasansthan at Kanakagurupeeth .
‘Kaginele Peetha should never be confined to one caste. It should be home to all the exploited communities’. The CM thanked the Swamiji of Kaginele mutt for organizing a very meaningful Bhavaikya Samavesha on the occasion of Kanaka Jayanti.
None of us were born by our choice.. Humans must value others. Kanakadasa preached to value humans without any caste and religion biases, the CM explained.
The CM recalled that while establishing the Kanakaguru Peetha, the main intention was to make this Mutt open to all exploited communities instead of just Kuruba Mutt
‘Religion exists for us. We do not live for religion. Hence Kanakadasa once said’Kula Kulavendu hodedaadadiri’ ,Basavanna said, “Iva nammanva.’’ and Ambedkar spoke about equal society. The CM said that the aspirations of Basavadi Sharans, Kanakadasas, Ambedkar, Kuvempu, Sufis were all the same and needed to be adopted in our life’.
On the same occasion, the Chief Minister released Malleshappa Horpete’s novel Kanakana Hejje, a children’s novel.
The programme was held in the divine presence of Jagadguru Sri Niranjananandpuri Mahaswami. Kumbhabhishekam of Sri Revanasiddeswara, Sri Beeralingeshwar, Sri Mylaralingeshwar, Sri Mahasiddeshwari was performed.
Sriman Maharaja Gurusidda Rajayogindra Mahaswami of Moorusavira Mutt, Hubli, Sayyid Mohammad Tanveer Hashmi of Hashim Peer Dargah, Hazrat Bijapur, Dr. Allons Fernandes priest of Karnataka Diocese, were present.
