Mangalore : Karnataka Bank Limited celebrated Founders’ Day at its head office near Mahaveer Circle on Feb 18 Saturday with Usha Thorat, the former deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and director of the center for advanced financial research and learning, as the chief guest.
Speaking on the topic Challenges and Opportunities for Old Private Sector Banks, she said that the relationship between finance and growth, which was so long accepted, is now being questioned, with the new viewpoint emerging that excessive finance is detrimental to stability and growth. Simultaneously, the role of banking and finance is still very important in India, with agriculture holding huge potential for the banking sector.
Congratulating the bank, which has completed 88 years, she said that it will successfully complete 200 years.
She also launched KBL Gift Card and KBL Travel Card on this occasion.
Delivering the presidential address, Chairman Ananthakrishna said that the bank is committed to helping society in the field of education and rural development. He stated that the bank has four pillars in the form of 5000 employees, 50 lakh customers, the bank’s shareholders, and its board of directors.
MD P. Jayaram Bhat was also present.
The formal state program was followed by a music concert by Sangeeth Samrat Chitravina Shri N. Ravikiran.
