Mangalore : The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy conducted a district-level Beary Talent Competitions for primary and high school students at Town Hall on Feb 27, Sunday.
Newly elected president of Zilla Panchayat K. T. Shailaja Bhat, inaugurated the event.
MLA U. T. Khader, Usman Haji, the president of the DK Wakf Board Moses Jayashekar, the jurisdictional block education officer and Abdul Majid Suralpady, the president of the All India Beary Parishad were the chief guest.
The competition comprised 14 divisions such as elocution competition, painting, pick and speak, story telling, skits, madarangi, mimicry, essay writing, discussions, quiz, poetry writing, and kolata.
M. B. Abdul Rahman, the president of the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy presided over the event. Umarabba, P Mohammed, and other members of the academy were also present.
Over 650 students participated in this event.
