Mangaluru: The work of ‘page pramukhs’ is vital in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s good performance in Dakshina Kannada, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, said here on Tuesday.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Kateel said the use of ‘page pramukhs’ is the strategy followed in Gujarat and has worked well in Dakshina Kannada and other parts of the State.
“Each page pramukh was given a task to ensure voting of all the 30 candidates mentioned in the voters’ list. It’s their work that has helped our candidates win comfortably,” Mr. Kateel said.
The same strategy will be followed for the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, he said.
On the defeat of BJP in Mangaluru Assembly constituency, Mr. Kateel said the party candidate has given a good fight.
Dedicating the victory of seven BJP candidates from Dakshina Kannada to Prashant Poojary, Deepak Rao and Sharath Madiwala, the slain BJP and RSS activists in the district, Mr. Kateel said the party workers have tirelessly worked for the past two years.
The party workers’ efforts and the strategy by district BJP leaders and BJP president Amit Shah has paid dividends, he said.
Mr. Kateel said the seven BJP legislators will work to implement development programmes of the Union government.
Ganesh Karnik, MLC, told reporters that the victory of the party candidates in the coastal region and in other areas of the state was indication of voters rejection of appeasement politics followed by the Congress government.
“The policies and actions of the government has led the majority community vote in favour of our party,” he said.
