Kasaragod (Kerala) : Opposition leader (Congress) in Kerala and former CM Oommen Chandy accused the ruling LDF of poor supervision of law and order, causing more violence and deaths in the state. He was talking to media persons here, before setting out on Kerala Deliverance March for the 2nd day. He explained that the death of young Rishad (25) on Sunday was a murder, and added that the state Goondas Act was not implemented properly.
Chandy said that UDF govt that passed the law against Goondas (lawless persons) required a panel of 3 HC Judges to effectively supervise the performance of the Act, to prevent misuse or dilution of the crucial law.
But the present Leftist Front govt., made a mockery of that law, he observed. The LDF took the political connections of those accused under this Act.
Culprits are not arrested even when he (Chandy) pointed them out to CM, DGP and Home minister. He condemned the manhandling of sympathizers of the dead person, and beating up of a news photographer in the case.
