Mangalore : The Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike arranged at function at the St Aloysius College Auditorium on June 9, Sunday to thank the voters for defeating the BJP in the recent elections. An interactive session with newly elected MLAs as well as new ministers, was arranged on the occasion.
Presiding over the function, Gowri Lankesh, Editor of Gowri Lankesh Patrike, said communalism has been struck a blow with the defeat of the BJP in the elections. She also recalled the events which led to the formation of the Komu Sauharda Vedike.
District Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology Ramanatha Rai made it clear that the Congress government will not tolerate communalism.
Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty, Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo, Udupi District Minister Vinaykumar Sorake, Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes and others attended the function and answered various queries of the public.
Prof. V Phaniraj of Komu Sauharda Vedike, Venkataswamy and others were present.
