Mangalore : Over 1000 MT of stored sand was seized by Dt Tahsildar A.Manjunath and Dy. Director of Mines & Geology, Ravindra, on Friday from the premises of Vikas Institute of Physiotherapy at Mary Hill in Mangalore (belonging to DK Minister for Ports & Ecology, Krishna J.Palemar).
The sand belonged to Prabhachandra Mayya, builder, Coastal Houses, for construction work of 6 floors in October 2009 and other 11 buildings in the city, but nothing has been done as yet. Related documents were demanded by Dy. Director of Mines, Ravindra, but were not produced. He said be would check the sources.
Talking to newsmen, Ravindra said that a fine would be imposed on the builders, if they did not show relevant documents on storage source and payment of sand royalty etc. A Manjunath, Tahsildar, stated the sand transportation would not be allowed, until the enquiry is completed. A notice would also be issued on the builder.
