Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district police, along with Mangaluru City Police have launched ‘Gruha Suraksha’, a new service for the people. The service aims to ensure safety of locked houses while the occupants may be away on a vacation.
Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase who has come up with this idea while speaking to media persons says that any family that is planning to go out of station will simply have to intimate the police about the dates when they will be away from home, attach the GPS location and photographs of the house and send it to the mobile number of District Control room through WhatsApp.
An acknowledgement would be sent to the person once the message is received at the control room and the Control room inspector would then inform about such houses to the night duty officer of the jurisdictional police station who in turn will ask cops on night patrol to visit the house to ensure its safety.
The information would be given only for that specific day to ensure that there is no leakage of information.
