Mangalore: Margaret Alva, the governor of Uttarakhand, conferred the prestigious Rachana Awards to the achievers at a special awards ceremony held at Milagres Jubilee Hall on Dec 19, Sunday.
The Agriculturist of the Year Award was conferred on Richard Rebello, NRI Entrepreneur of the Year on Pascal Alan Nazareth, Entrepreneur of the Year Award on Vincent C. Kolnad, and the Outstanding Woman of the Year Award on Flavia Agnes.
After honouring the achievers, Mrs Alva said that, Rachana Foundation (Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry) is doing a great job by recognizing at least one woman achiever among achievers and thanking them for their contribution for the Mangalorean Konkani Catholic community.
Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza congratulated the awardees and said that Rachana Foundation is encouraging community members and inspiring the youth to emerge as leaders in society.
Justice B. V. Pinto, the Karnataka High Court judge, inaugurated the Rachana Senior Citizens’ Welfare Trust.
Rachana President J. S. Noronha welcomed the gathering. Peter Pinto, secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Titus Noronha and Trishma Pinto compered the event. Marcel Monteiro, former president and convener was also present on the occasion.
