Belthangady: Belthangady MLA K Vasanth Bangera has been appointed as President of small industrial development corporation.
After being elected as MLA for the fifth time, everyone was with a hope that Bangera will get a place in CM Siddaramaiah’s cabinet, but during the cabinet expansion also CM didn’t take Bangera to his cabinet.In the list of corporation presidents, Vasanth Bangera’s name was missing, but in the second list Vasanth Bangera had got chance to be the president of small industrial development corporation.
He entered into the politics as a president of Kuvettu panchayat and after that he became MLA for the first time by competing from BJP. After five years, he became MLA again from BJP and during that time there were only two BJP MLAs in entire Karnataka, other one was B S Yeddyurappa.
He left BJP for personnal reasons and joined JDS and again he elected as MLA. He became the chief whip of the government in assembly also. Then he lost two consecutive elections and joined Congress. Though there was strong objection against him to join Congress, he won the MLA seat of Belthangady assembly constituency for the consecutive second time.
He has the credit of distributing highest number of land deeds to the people during his tenure in 1983, 1985, 1994, 2008 and 2013. He fought against Monkey disease and took the virus causing monkey disease to assembly session threaten to open it, thereby forcing the government to find a vaccine for it.
He is the reason behind the electricity connections to all the remote areas of the taluk. He planned the projects to build bridges across the rivers to have a proper connectivity between taluk head quarters and the villages.
