Mangalore : SCDCC Bank Chairman MN Rajendra Kumar released the documentary ‘Journey towards IIT’ directed by Ganesh Prasad, advocate and President of Kumaraswamy Vidyalaya at SCDCC Bank Conference Hall on July 13, Saturday.
The documentary is based on the life and achievement of daily wage earner and hotel cleaner Manjunath of Sullia taluk near Mangalore.
Addressing the media at the felicitation programme, Rajendra Kumar said that it is the matter of proud to release a documentary of a daily wager who has secured 82% in BSc examination which is not an easy task for any students with all the facilities.
He also said that Manjunath who have got an admission in IIT was unaware that he would cost Rs 80,000 but he had already got seat. It is a matter of pride for the district. Further let he become a renowned scientist and make district proud, he added.
Rajendra Kumar felicitated him and handed over the cheque of Rs 50,000 to Manjunath who will leave to Bhubaneswar on July 13 from Mangalore and join the premier institution on July 22.
Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Union president PB Harish Rai welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests. Shivarama, teacher of Manjunath proposed vote of thanks.
