Mangalore: DK Minister for Ports and Ecology, Krishna Palemar informed today that a delay was caused, by not certifying on the funds actually utilized last year towards natural disasters from funds allotted to them, and this had hindered fresh allocation of funds for this year.
He was addressing a meeting held at the DCO auditorium on Saturday on natural disaster caused by monsoon, such as floods, house collapses bad roads etc. He secured relevant information from ZP engineering and PWD departmental officers on present works undertaken after certain natural disasters took place.
He also set certain time limits to present the records maintained on funds received and spent on the works being done to the Deputy Commissioner. He wanted the records relating to 2006-2007 in 15 days, to see how much funds had been utilized and how much wirk was completed.
Those documents relating to 2007-08 should be furnished by August 31 and those of 2008-09 by October end, he ordered.
No amounts would be paid or settled for those records/reports on works received much later, he ruled. Tahsildars, executive engineers, and assistant engineers were present in the review meeting to present their regional reports.
Discussions also took place on property losses and floods in rivers, and compensations distributed to sufferers in Bantwal and Belthangady by Tahsildars. Several officers and MESCOM participated in these discussions. The minister suggested a meeting in MCC presided over by Mayor to discuss problem relating to city areas. He obtained reports from RTO KSRTC and Fire Fighting Force departments on managing natural disasters that faced them.
