Mangaluru: Police officers, who have completed three years in a place of posting, will be transferred in the next few days, said Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Tuesday. This comes just after the transfer of Superintendent of Police B.R. Ravikante Gowda to Dakshina Kannada.
Talking to reporters at Karnire near Kinnigoli, Mr. Reddy said that following a recent meeting with officials from the Election Commission, a list of police officers who have completed three years in a place of posting has been prepared. “You will see more transfers in the next few days, as per the directions of the Election Commission,” he said.
Mr. Reddy said that the transfer of Mr. Ravikante Gowda to Dakshina Kannada and Sudheer Kumar Reddy C.H. to Belagavi was purely an administrative decision. “We had to transfer Mr. Ravikante Gowda, who had completed three years in Belagavi,” he said.
When pointed out that Mr. Reddy was transferred within six months since his posting to Dakshina Kannada, the Home Minister said, “He is an efficient officer and we have given him a bigger district with 18 Assembly constituencies to handle.”
Brushing aside reports that Mr. Ravikante Gowda was not keen on taking charge as Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police, the Minister said, “IPS officers will work wherever they are posted.”
