Mangaluru: Action for the Mangalore Premier League 4.0 is all set to heat up with a player auction for the event that will be held at Forum Fiza Mall on Saturday.
With owners of 12 teams in fray, already picking up their owner’s choice player, the auction will be all about picking the remaining 15-players including two IPL/KPL and Ranji players from outside Mangaluru zone, four each A and B category players and five C category players.
Sirajuddin, chairman, MPL, told that the player auction will test the management skills of teams in picking up the right mix of players, who will battle it out for the MPL title at Dr B R Ambedkar Stadium of NMPT, from March 20.
The tournament is all about giving maximum exposure to C category or upcoming players to find their feet in this slam-bang variety of the game, he said, adding if a few of them make it to KPL, the tournament will be worth the effort.
While non-Mangaluru zone players who have already played the game at the highest level will command a base price of Rs 10,000 with teams allowed to bid a maximum of Rs 50,000 for them, those in A category will have the same base price as non-Mangaluru zone players with spending cap of Rs 40,000 on them.
Players in B category will command base price of Rs 5,000 with cap of Rs 20,000 and C category base price of Rs 2,000 and cap of Rs 5,000.
