Mangaluru : The government has posted Krishnamurthy and Raghupathy as the superintendent and the jailor at the Mangaluru District Prison. Mr. Krishnamurthy replaces B.T. Obaleshappa, who was among the four prison personnel placed under suspension for alleged dereliction of duty leading to the murder of two prison inmates on November 2.
Mr. Krishnamurthy was earlier the superintendent of Hassan District Prison. Mr. Raghupathy has been placed the post of jailor, which has been vacant for the last few months.
Mr. Obleshappa, head warder Navi and warders A.A. Kolara, S.S. Talwar and Mulki Patil have been placed under suspension following the report of P.V. Ananda Reddy, the Chief Superintendent of Mysuru Central Prison, into alleged negligence of officials leading to murder of Chota Shakeel’s associate Madoor Isubbu and his aide Ganesh Shetty.
Meanwhile, the police are questioning five alleged associates of Akashbhavan Sharan, an alleged associate of underworld operative Vikki Shetty, who is suspected to be involved in the murder.
The police are also verifying calls made by Vikki Shetty to some media channels claiming that the murder was done as per his directions.
