Sakeleshpur: Principal bench of National Green Tribunal, Delhi rejected the plea of the state government on re-transfer of Yettinahole case to the Southern Zone Bench in Chennai, on Wednesday. The hearing of the case has been posted to August 8.
Questioning the implementation of Yettinahole project a case was standing at Southern Bench of NGT at Chennai. On the plea of Kishore Kumar, C. Yattiraju, Purushottam Chitrapura and K.N. Somashekar the southern bench transferred the case to principal bench of NGT.
The state government has planned to supply drinking water to Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru rural and Tumakuru districts by collecting 24 TMC ft water from Yettinahole. But there was a huge oppse from the people of Dakshina Kannada as the project may affect the Netravati River, which is the only river in the district.
The petitioners expressed their unhappiness in the delay of maintaining the case and deciding the judgment. The NGT principal bench on Wednesday turned down the plea to re-transfer the case to southern bench filed by Somashekhar, Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Ltd.
