Mangalore : The Orchid Art Gallery launched the art work 18 artists under the theme ‘Colourful Shadows’ displayed at World Konkani Convention 2010 on July 28 Thursday.
Roy Castelino, one of the patrons of Mandd Sobhann, inaugurated the exhibition. Speaking on the occasion, he said that art work depict Konkani culture and the public must purchase it to encourage the artistes.
Orchid Gallery Director William Pais said that the 21 oil and acrylic paintings on display illustrate the rich and colorful local culture.
The paintings like a tribal folk dance against the backdrop of a hut by Kandan G, fisherwoman with a basket of catch by Ahmed, a smoke-filled kitchen by Ramesh Rao, a woman holding a lamp in front of the Tulsi plant and performing the morning rituals by Veena Shrinivas, and others were displayed.
The exhibition is open for public viewing till Aug 4.
