Mangaluru : Dr Shivram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama will organise ‘Pilikula Vasanthothsava’ near biological park on May 24 at 10 am.
Chairing a meet at the DC’s court hall, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said that the main objective of the festival is to introduce the rare and endangered varieties of plants and fruits and to preserve them. He added that the fests of these kind will be held in future as well to attract more people to the Nisargadhama.
The exhibition will be held from 10 am to 5 pm.
Pilikula Nisargadhama Executive Director Prabhakar Sharma said that the Vasanthothsava will feature the expo and sale of different varieties of fruits and products made out of them. Fruits include jackfruit, cocum, jambul, palm fruit, wild jack fruit, wild mangoes etc.
Fresh fruit juices, cake, payasam, ice cream and wine prepared out of jackfruits will be the major attractions at the expo. Medicinal herbs will also be on display and sale. Organic shandy market will also be held in the venue where organically grown vegetables will be sold. Seeds of various vegetables and fruits and also sandalwood and teak wood saplings will be made available by the department of forest, Sharma said.
Pilikula Regional Science Centre Director K V Rao, Agricultural department Joint Director Kempegowda and others were present.
