Mangalore : Several prominent citizens of Mangalore voiced their concern over the recent moral policing incident at Morning Mist Home Stay at an ‘Arise Mangalore’ programme organized at Loyola Hall of St Aloysius College in Mangalore on Sunday.
N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, who was the first speaker, described the moral policing as the most disgraceful incident he has seen in his life. If such a large population of the district was unable to tackle a handful of goons who were disturbing peace and tranquility through such act, then it is indeed a tragedy, he said. He further added such incidents were taking place because uneducated rule the political scene.
Latha Kini, former president of KCCI, said there was no need for the moral police men to impose their rules on the society which has a rich legacy and a glorious tradition.
Dr C P Habeeb Rehman, Chairman of Unity Health Complex said no civilized individual would carry out such barbaric and heinous crime like the one happened at the home stay in Padil.
Medha Alexander, a student of KMC said it was the duty of the parents and elders to take care of their children and the moral policemen had nothing to do.
Walter D’Souza, Chairman of Federation of Indian Export Organization, Asha Nayak, a criminal lawyer and Chairperson of CWC, Dr Derik Lob, Philomena Peris, Vijayanath Vittal Shetty, Vimala Lobo, William Pais and others spoke.
