Mangaluru : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the State government would lend all to support the proposed post graduate centre of Mangalore University in Udupi and directed the Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa to take immediate measures.
Speaking after laying foundation stone for the advanced science research centre of Mangalore University on a palatial 20 acres of land at Belapu at the cost of Rs 141.38 crore, the CM said that the main concern would be imparting quality education.
The government has taken up measures to introduce quality education to all in State. It is only through education, the social and economic empowerment is possible. He said that the challenges to bring the children into the forefront of educational arena at global level is quite tough, however the task should be encountered with positive note.
The social reformation is not possible through the educational empowerment of children. The quality education is the right of every child. The economic and social disparity could be eliminated only through education.
He said the proposed science research centre would bring laurels to State at global level by involving itself into quality research. The purpose of the research centre is to invite the global scientists to engage in the research activities in the center. Rs 15 crore has already been released for the centre under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan. The centre would promote basic science and also various activities for the benefits of human kind. Besides, the center would also take up research on environment and natural resources in coastal Karnataka.
The CM added that the government would take stringent action against the miscreants who are into disrupting peace in the society, especially anti social and communal elements. The government will at any cost not tolerate the activities aiding communal disharmony in State, he said.
