Mangaluru: The Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who will arrive here on Tuesday for a rally, will visit a temple, a mosque and a church late in the evening.
Addressing presspersons here on Monday, B. Ramanath Rai, Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada, said that Mr. Gandhi would visit the Church of Our Lady of Rosary in Pandeshwar, Gokarnanatheswara temple in Kudroli and Sayyid Muhammed Shareeful Madani Darga in Ullal.
After arriving at the Mangaluru International Airport at 11.30 a.m., Mr. Gandhi will fly to Tenka Yermal in Udupi.
He said that Mr. Gandhi’s Dakshina Kannada tour will begin with a road show in Mulki at 3.30 p.m. Later, a show will be conducted at Surathkal at 4.20 p.m. where he will address a gathering. Following this, the show will be held from Ambedkar Circle in the city to the Nehru Maidan at 5.20 p.m. Mr. Gandhi will address a rally here at 6 p.m. His visit to places of worship will begin at 7.30 p.m.
The Congress president will address a rally at the cricket ground also. The late Indira Gandhi had also addressed a party rally in the cricket ground.
Mr. Rai said that Dakshina Kannada is the stronghold of the Congress as it won seven of the eight Assembly seats in the 2013 election.
Earlier, the Congress government’s land reforms, and 20- point programme have been effectively implemented in the district.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will accompany Mr. Gandhi during his visit to the city on Tuesday. Mr. Siddaramaiah will arrive at Mangaluru International Airport at 10.20 a.m. to welcome Mr. Gandhi at the airport. He will stay in the city on Tuesday night and proceed to Sringeri on March 21.
