Mangalore: Veteran cricketers Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath along with Dr Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor Nitte University, laid the foundation for the Royal Challengers-KSCA Cricket Pavilion at Sahyadri Engineering College Campus at Adyar on December 10, Monday. Dr Shantharam Shetty inaugurated the Royal Challangers-KSCA Cricket Academy aimed at training young cricketing talents in the intricacies of the game by providing modern facilities like turf wickets, bowling machine and efficient coaches.
P Dayananda Pai, Chairman of Century Group who spoke on the occasion said an international cricket stadium can be constructed in Mangalore provided the required 25 acre land was provided.
Shashi Kiran Shetty, Chairman and Managing director All cargo Global Logistics Ltd, Mumbai hoped the Academy will produce many cricketers of caliber from the district. in future.
Dr Shanthram Shetty whp also spoke, said Mangalore which excelled inv various fields, need a good cricket stadium.
Chairman of Sahyadri Engineering College, Manjunath Bhandary also spoke on the occasion. Syed Kirmani, former Indian wicket keeper, Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar. Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, Dr Srikanth Rai,Convenor of Mangalore Zone of KSCA and others were present.
