Mangalore: Rural Circle Inspector B.R.Lingappa was suspended from Feb.7, Monday in view of complaints received against him from people at large, according to City Police Commissioner, Seemanth Kumar Singh. The suspension followed a raid on a bar “bouncer” in Thokkottu on last Saturday night.
Lingappa had failed to illegal activities taking place regularly under his jurisdiction. Panambur ACP and his team have taken strict action against direction of duty by Lingappa, Singh informed the press. The suspended Police officer knew sand mafia and took bribes and liquor.
The Sarovar Bar & Restaurant belonged to a BJP leader Chandrahas Ullal, and Lingappa was alleged to have had a hand in running till late hours. Panambur ACP Puttamadaiah has given a detailed report on bands and cabaret dancers at the bar working beyond midnight in the pub at Thokkottu.
