Mangalore : Prof G.V. Joshi, Member, Planning Board, Government of Karnataka inaugurated the One day National level Workshop on “Inclusive Growth: Concept and Reality” on March 27, Tuesday.
The workshop was organized by the P. G. Department of Economics, St Aloysius College ( Autonomous) Mangalore.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr G.V. Joshi, Professor of Economics, said that when one thinks about inclusive growth, it will have more demand. The inclusive growth is highly complex growth.
He also said that the human development report for 2011, itself throws light on the states like Goa, Kerala and Karnataka. The St Aloysius Collegeis so considerable at present. The SC/ST has benefits from the growth process. The story of inclusive growth has not completed still, he said.
Presiding over the event, Rev. Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, Principal, St Aloysius College said that today we are at the end of 11th plan and the government is trying to put the 12th plan in education. But access, equity and quality are important in education, he said.
Today only 8 to 10 percent of the people can go to the post graduation college level. If there is no quality in education, then there no growth at all, he said.
Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte, Sri B.V. Raghunandan , Associate Professor of Commerce, SVS College Bantwal, Dr Mani K P, Professor and Head, Department of Economics and Dr. T. Mallikarjunappa, Professor, Dept. of Business Administration and Co-coordinator MBA (Tourism Administration), Mangalore University will be the resource persons at the workshop.
The delegates from the First Grade Colleges and PG Courses from the States of Goa, Kerala and Karnataka participated in the event.
