Mangalore: The Billava spiritual path-leader from Kerala, Sri Narayana Guru fought for social equality, and his followers should walk on that path, minister Krishna Palemar told here.
It was the 157th birth anniversary of the coastal downtrodden people’s social leader that Palemar was speaking at, organised by All India Billava union and Narayana Guru Educational Institutions in city, in the local college auditorium in Kudroli on Sunday.
He urged people that apart from celebrating such a birth anniversary of great personalities, who did so much for so many communities, they should also take the message forward for next (younger) generations.
He recalled that the Billava Union had asked for a student’s hostel, with 2 acres of land, and an acre of land had been already sanctioned for the purpose by the Government at a place known as Kunjathabail.
The decision for another acre would be taken soon (on September 14) at a Cabinet meeting called by the new CM, he added. Union Chairman N.D. Suvarna, presided over the celebrations near kudroli Temple.
