Bangalore: The ‘Sakala’ scheme of ensuring citizenry services for all, provisionally brought into force in only 4 talukas in the entire state (Udupi was one), on March1, has now been extended to all the areas of the state, like a civilian charter, as on April 2, Monday.
This was announced by Chief Secretary, S.V. Ranganath after holding a Video conference with all deputy commissioners, in his office on Saturday morning. He was talking to reporters.
All DCs have to arrange special programmes in their areas, to create a public awareness about this Civic charter, he said. ‘Help desks’ are set up in all districts, with computer facilities, and those who man them, should be trained suitably, to handle the job.
The regional Commissioners (like Mysore) have to take keen interest in the progress of ‘Sakal’ mission expansion, and assess the work done by DCs, from time to time Ranganath ruled.
Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Chief secretary for Personnel and administrative reforms, said ‘Sakal’ pertained to 11 departments. 200 guide books are sent to each district, where DCs have to equip and maintain suitable staff to respond to people.
All departments must put up notice boards showing what services they provide. Model notifications are already sent to them, she informed over 97,000 applications were received under the Sakal scheme ad 80,000 of them were now disposed, which is the proof of its success, Shalini emphasised.
The public are now assured to timely attention and services to them and their reaction is warm, Shalini added.
