Mangaluru: The Supreme Court refused to stay order and adjourned the hearing of the petition filed by PETA to ban legislation in Karnataka that permits the bullock race Kambala.
The Court issued a notice to the Centre and Karnataka government asking them to appear in the matter on November 13. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra appeared for PETA India.
However, the first Kambala of this season will be held at Kalakere Nisargadhama in Moodbidri on November 11. Meanwhile, Vijaya Vikrama Kambala Samiti, Uppinangady, has made arrangements to file petition seeking to be made a party to the petition, through Supreme Court counsel, Sanjay Luli.
