Mangaluru : Navodaya Gram Vikas Charitable Trust sponsored by South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank as well as the Karnataka State Cooperative Marketing Federation, Bengaluru decided to donate flood hit neighbouring Kerala and Kodagu in both in cash and in kind.
Speaking to reporters here M N Rajendra Kumar, president of the bank told reporters that the Trust has given Rs 50 lakh to the Karnataka CM relief fund and the employees of the federation have decided to contribute their one-day salary to the fund. The federation has also sent one truck of load of tur dal to Kerala on a request from the government there.
The trust too has decided to respond to the crisis will remit Rs 10 lakh to the CM Relief Fund for Kodagu flood relief efforts and dispatch 2000 sarees to the victims of deluge there.
The trust will also remit Rs 10 lakh to the CM Distress Relief Fund of Kerala as well as send 3000 sarees for flood victims there. “We will also consider sending lungis to the victims in Kerala, given that most have lost their daily possession including dress,” he said.
SCDCC Bank on its part will donate Rs 25 lakh each to CM Relief Funds as well as PM Relief Fund for the overall flood relief efforts both in Karnataka and Kerala. In addition, the bank staff will donate their day’s salary, he said. The bank has also urged all its primary agriculture credit cooperative society members to pool in their contribution to a common bank account and this will in turn remitted equally to the relief funds of two governments.
Donations may be made to Kerala-Kodagu Flood Victims Relief Fund to account number 00145050000755 on IFSC Code IBKL078SCDC or through cheque/DD drawn on the same account number at the bank’s Kodialbail branch.
