Mangalore: The Second Graduation Day of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) was held in Mangalore on June 2, Saturday.
Delivering the Graduation Day Address, Prof. B Balaram, Director, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, emphasized the need to bridge the divide between different streams of learning like science, engineering, humanities and medicine. He also regretted the fact that students these days preferred commerce and management streams over humanities subjects.
There is no basis to the notion that B.Sc and BA courses are unprofessional, he added.
The oath was administered to the students on the occasion by Fr Joseph Rodrigues, Rector of St Aloysius institutions.
Fr Swebert D’Silva, Principal of St Aloysius College, Prof. AM Narahari, Registrar, Fr Francis Serrao, Provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province, and others were present on the occasion.
Medals and cash prizes were awarded on the occasion to rank holders. Degree certificates were presented to a total of 1377 students including under graduate, post graduate and PG Diploma students.
