Mangalore: The Canara HP School Urwa, which stood first in Indian Folk Dance and Indian classical Dance (in Dances section) emerged as overall winner of the Hindu Youngworld Fest 2011.
Corporation Bank (HO in Mangalore) assisted the Daily in sponsoring this event. Bearys’ Group were co-sponsors.
Dr. N.S. Channappa Gowda, the dynamic and ever-busy Deputy Commissioner for Dakshina Kannada district, inaugurated the event. Nasir Mohideen, from Beary’s was the guest of honour.
Final competitions, held on Tuesday (Dec 13), were for Rangoli (Colour Drawings), Debating, Flower Arrangements (Ikabena-Pookalam), cartooning (funny drawings), Classical/Folk music, and western or Film dances.
The Prizes were distributed by B.N. Sathish, GM, Corporation Bank K.G. Seshagiri of Hindu, Mangalore was present. G.R. Venkatesh, RGM of the Hindu also attended.
Over 800 children of 78 schools from Western Coastal and Hill Range of Kodagu, Chikkamagalur, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts participated in all competitions, in their ebullience and thrills.
