Bengaluru: The retired Lokayukta Justice N. Santosh Hegde has demanded on Monday after Gali Janardhana Reddy’s arrest, that Reddy’s illegal dealings in Obalapuram Mining Company should be investigated by CBI which was doing a good job so far.
Speaking to pressmen after the mining baron was put under 14 days of judicial Custody in Hyderabad jail. Justice Hegde stated that he (Hegde) had made a detailed study of illegal mining deals of Reddy Brothers and Sriramulu group and their families, but more enquiry was needed to be conducted by CBI as well, to fix responsibility.
More criminals could be then brought before the public, as referred to in his report, he added.
The former Lokayukta was ready to give a copy of his bulky (22,000 pages) report on illegal miners of Karnataka, to the CBI. Certain prominent documents are already sent to the chief Secretary. The state Government could send them to CBI, the present Lokayukta, Justice Shivaraj V. Patil opined on Tuesday, in support of Hegde’s statement.
