Kaup : Silver articles worth nearly Rs 50,000 and a cash of Rs 35000 were stolen by thieves from the house of a former bank manager at Salmara near Shankerpura. The theft came to light when the occupants of the house Padmanabha Bhat and Meera were away in Bangalore to attend a function.
That the theft took place, came to light when the couple returned on May 31, Friday morning. The thieves had scanned the entire bedroom and god’s room and had taken away the silver valuables and cash.
Police say someone who knew that the couple were away might have committed the theft. A dog squad and finger print experts were sent to the scene of the crime. Senior police officials too visited the spot.
Residents of Shankerpura are more agitated more so because the police have not been able to apprehend the thieves responsible for several thefts in the area in the recent few months.
