Malpe : Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes has said that the Congress was committed to fulfill all the promises made in the election manifesto.
Addressing an election campaign meet in favour of Congress candidate Pramod Madhwaraj on May 1 near the Malpe bus stand, he said the Congress was not just after power, but aims at serving the people.
He said the party aims at helping the poor, empowerment of women, channelization of youth power in the right direction and treating all people as equals.
He said in case the Congress was elected to power, the chief ministerial candidate of the Congress will be decided after due consultation of all newly elected MLAs and as per the direction of party president Sonia Gandhi.
Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde, also spoke on the occasion. Pramod Madhwaraj, the candidate in his address, said he would develop Udupi as a model constituency.
Several Congress leaders Sarala Kanchan, MA Gafur, Mallika Ashok, Vasudev Samaga and others were present.
