Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City police began to use a mobile digital display board for exhibiting videos of crime prevention in different parts of the city from Friday. City-based Nomadic Media Technologies is providing this facility for the police.
The firm has provided a mini-truck mounted with an LED screen for screening videos related to crime prevention and safe driving, There will also be messages by Police Commissioner M. Chandra Sekhar and other city police officers.
Suraj B.K., managing partner of the firm, said these videos will be screened at two places every day for the next 10 days. After screening videos on crime prevention, the firm will show advertisements of some private firms, he said.
Mr. Sekhar told reporters on Friday that the new initiative will help city police in reaching out to people in an effective way.
People can also click selfies and upload on Twitter and Facebook with #pledgeyoursupportcampaign. They hope to reach out to a wider audience with this campaign, he said. Mr. Sekhar thanked the Corporation Bank and the Karnataka Bank for supporting the new initiative.
District In-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai flagged off the new vehicle at the office of the Police Commissioner. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) K. Shantaraju, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) M. Sanjeev Patil and Assistant Commissioners of Police K. Tilakhchandra and Uday Nayak were present.
