Mangalore: Well known Konkani writer Valerian D’Souza, popular as Vally Vagga has been selected for the Konkani Kutam Award 2012 given by the Konkani Kutam, Bahrain, a voluntary association aimed at promoting Konkani language, literature and culture.

Valerian has been chosen for the award in recognition of his yeoman contribution to the language and literature. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a citation and a memento. Valerian has authored nearly 125 short stories, 201 poems and five novels.
