Mangalore : R Hitendra, Mangalore city police commissioner on Thursday April 3 said, the movement of vehicles on Athena Hospital-Shanti Nilaya-Balmatta route changed in view of the visit of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi to the city on Friday.
He is expected to address people at Nehru Maidan at 5 p.m.
He said, KSRTC buses coming from Bhagawan Mahaveer (Pumpwell) Circle will be moving on the Nantoor-KPT-Kuntikana-Baliga Stores route. Only vehicles with pass and police vehicles will be allowed to enter on roads leading to Nehru Maidan.
The vehicles bringing people from Kundapur-Udupi route will be allowed on Kottara Chowki-Ladyhill-Lalbagh-M.G. Road-PVS-Navabharat Circle-K.S. Rao Road route and they will be parked in the grounds in Alake. Vehicles from Moodbidri will have to drop people at Milagres Church and park their vehicles at Vaman Nayak Maidan near Koti Chennayya Circle. Vehicles coming from Belthangady will have to drop people at Nehru Circle opposite Corporation Bank head office and park them either at St. Anns School maidan or Yemmekere Grounds.
There will be bar on holding vehicle rallies on Friday, the release said.
District in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai said Mr. Gandhi was likely to address public meeting at the Nehru Maidan around 5 p.m.
Mr. Hithendra told reporters that nearly 1,300 police personnel will be deployed for the security during the visit of Mr. Gandhi.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be accompanying Mr. Gandhi, he said.
