Bangalore: Congress leader who came from JD-S and former deputy CM, M.P. Prakash of Bellary (71) died in the Manipal hospital in Bangalore this morning, Feb.9. He is survived by his wife, a son and 3 daughters.
He was a multi-faceted personality being a writer, theatre person, lawyer and social activist before he joined politics and became MLA. He was MA, LLB, and an orator. He had directed plays, acted in a movie, and was known as the astute politician.
He was president of Janatha Dal and then joined Congress. He was opposed to illegal mining and welcomed Supreme Court strictures on the mining lobby that made illegal wealth in crores of rupees.
His funeral will take place in Hadagali in Bellary district. His body has been moved to Freedom Park in Bangalore for public viewing. CM has mourned the sudden end of M.P. Prakash. All colleges and schools in Bellary district remain closed on Thursday, tomorrow as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
