Mangaluru: Veteran Konkani writer and playwright Lancy Pinto Nayak (60), passed away in Mangaluru on Sunday, April 10.
Just three days before he released his novel ‘Sukhidhad’ in a function at Mangalore University on April 7. He had written over 200 short stories, 10 novels, 33 Konkani plays and over a 100 poems and articles.
Lancy was born on December 13, 1955 in Kinnigoli. He received several awards for his writings, some of which are late Louis Mascarenhas Birth Centenary Award, Konkani Bhasha Mandal Goa and the Karnataka Sahitya Academy award.
He admitted to a private hospital. He suffered from brain hemorrhage and breathed his last.
He is survived by his wife Jacintha, son Dagny Ian and daughter Daphney Roveena.
