Mangalore : The works of updating voters’ list with photograph coming under the limitation of Mangalore Taluk Panchayat is lagging behind, hence the voters who fails to submit their photographs by August 15 will be removed from the list said, Tahshildar Manjunath.
He was addressing the Taluk Panchayat general body meeting held at its office on August 10, Tuesday.
He also said that out of 12,612 voters in Moodabidri Constituency only 7,718 voters have given their photographs and around 4,894 voters have kept the submission pending. While in Mangalore North constituency only 11,435 voters have submitted while 9,699 are pending and in Mangalore constituency 8,342 have submitted while 5,744 are pending.
Pointing on the issue of Sand mining, member s of Taluk Panchayat said that illegal sand mining put poor families in trouble, due to insufficient quantity of sand required for the construction of the house.
Ramachandra Kumpala, TP President said that although GPRS has been installed in most of the sand transporting Lorries, illegal mining has been continuing. Responding to the queries, Tahshildar said that District Administration has tried to o the things better to control the illegal sand mining and now it the duty of the common man to help district administration in stopping illegal sand mining.
