Mangaluru : Ministers C Puttaranga Shetty, M T B Nagaraj and Yeshwanthpur MLA S T Somashekar came at the inauguration of Kanaka Samudaya Bhavan in Bengaluru on Sunday.
“Siddaramaiah is the undisputed leader of the Congress Legislature Party and there is nothing wrong in either the ministers or Somashekar wishing that he gets a second term,” Patil told here. “We did some very good work over the last five years under Siddaramaiah and should have come back to power on our own, which we did not for various reasons,” Patil said, adding that coalition politics is not something new and its demands will be met.
Admitting that confusions are natural in a coalition, Patil said the coordination committee is there for this very reason – to smoothen misunderstandings as and when they crop up. “We — JD(S)-Congress — have come together for a very specific purpose, to ensure that parties with secular mindset rule the state rather than a party with a communal outlook,” the minister said without naming the principal opposition party in the state, the BJP.
The Congress has made sacrifices, too, in ensuring that the coalition government came to power with JD(S) heading the government. High commands of respective parties have decided on modalities of how the government should run under the stewardship of Kumaraswamy, the minister said, adding the Congress will always wish that the party rules the state on its own under the leadership of Siddaramaiah as espoused by leaders in Bengaluru.
