Mangalore: A pickpocket was caught red-handed while trying to steal a wallet from the hip pocket of a commuter on a bus plying from Jalligudda to State Bank on April 20 Friday. The pickpocket’s accomplice, however, managed to give everybody the slip.
 
The pickpocket Salman of Talapady has been arrested. When commuters noticed a friend of Salman picking another commuter’s pocket, they raised the alarm. The terrified pickpocket jumped out of the bus and ran away. His identity is not yet known.

However, Salman was caught and handed over to the police, who are currently investigating the case. The police have advised commuters, especially the men, to avoid carrying their wallets in their hip pockets. Such wallets are easily visible to pickpockets and are easy to steal as the buses are usually overcrowded.
