Mangalore: Saadhana Foundation awarded its 2010-11 awards on 9 achievers on Sunday, Aug.28 at its premises. The awards were in recognition of lifetime achievements in various spheres of activity, such as TV acting (Ananthavelu), drama and films(Radha.R), dance teaching (Muralidhar Rao), Tulu stage and film production(V.K.Kodialbail), Journalism(Deccan Herald Bureau’s Ronald Fernandes), literacy criticism(Vi.Ga.Nayak), Yakshagana art(Jalavalli V.Rao), Social work(Ms.Saraswathi Bhat), and writing(Yekkaru Umesh Rao, for literacy works).
A youth award was conferred upon Sherif Katipalla(Singer,produser-actor). Minister Krishna Palemar conferred the awards, after S.Ganesh Rao of Karavali Group of Educational Institutions had inaugurated the programme.
Harikrishna Punarooru,hotelier,presided. Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, PCM Kunhi, Shivananda Karkera, D.Ganeshpura among others were present, Dr.Devdas Pai, Governor of Rotary International launched the official website of Yaksha Karnataka. A comedy video album, the first, in Beary language, was released by M.G.Hegde. A Tulu audio album was also released by P.M.Chowta. K.V.Krishnadas of Saadhana Foundation welcomed the guests/gathering. Yasha K. Chief Latha Krishnadas was present. A ventriloquist show was performed by Indushree. There were several cultural events like songs and dances and other shows on the occasion.
