Udupi : There was tension in Kaup on March 13, Wednesday evening after a youth belonging to a particular community assaulted three young men who were talking to a girl of another community in a bus.
The incident resulted in tension and members of Hindu organizations laid siege to the Kaup police station condemning the incident.
Reports said Srinath and Rajesh from Katipalla who study in a college in Mangalor were on their way to Mangalore from Manipal when they reportedly spoke to a girl belonging to another community in the bus. Someone who noticed them informed their community members and when the bus reached Shantiniketan institute Kaup the youth were dragged out and attacked.
The identity of the attackers were not known.
The Hindu organizations which gheraoed the police station demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
Kaup police are investigating.
