Mangalore : C T Ravi, District in charge minister inaugurated the 38-day Karavali Utsav on Dec 21, Friday.
In his inaugural speech, he said that people of Mangalore are known for preserving their richness in culture and traditions. The district gives importance to the art of Yakshagana, Nagaradhane, Bhootharadhane, Kambala and other art rather than for money.
He also said that DK comprises of people speaking all the languages. Hence one must feel lucky to take birth in this district.
Today money and materialistic life has become important for the people and are not enjoying their life. It is true that money is important in life, but money must not become life, he said.
He wished the exhibition all success. The main entrance of the Karavali Utsav has been constructed in the model of fish.
Deputy Commissioner N Prakash welcomed the guests and gathering. Deputy speaker N Yogesh Bhat presided over the event.
